Happy Anniversary

It’s been awhile since we posted any new updates about us and our activities. And given the fact that our news reel no longer runs on the main page, it’s no surprise that no one checks out what’s going on here anymore.

Despite the quiet times, we do have an anniversary to celebrate.

10 Years!

On March 1st, 2010, Zor launched the Cache Up NB website and gave New Brunswick’s geocaching community just the boost it was looking for. Cache Up NB became the central website for all things geocaching in our province.

A lot has changed in 10 years. In January of 2017 we officially retired the news reel, the podcasts, and most of what we did on this website. But we kept a handful of our events going.

For those who may not know us as well, or don’t know what we’ve done, here are some highlights of our work with geocaching in New Brunswick:

  • Started in 2010 as a way to replace the failing Maritime Geocaching Association
  • We’ve hidden a total of 285 geocaches of almost every type across the province
    • 195 Traditionals
    • 9 Multis
    • 3 Letterbox
    • 51 Events
    • 1 Mega
    • 5 Puzzle/Mystery
    • 1 Earthcache
    • 20 Adventure Labs
  • Our caches have received around 33,000+ logs
  • We launched more geocoin challenge programs in this province than any previous group
    • Riverview Sunfest
    • Riverview Harvest Festival
    • Irishtown Park Nature Park
    • Beaubears Island
    • Kouchibouguac National Park
    • Capturing The Bay
    • Fundy National Park (inherited from the ACGA)
    • Falls Brook Centre
    • Sentier NB Trails
    • Moncton/Riverview/Dieppe Tri-City Challenge
  • As part of our coin events, we have produced more than 8,000 geocoins
  • 41 episodes of our podcast were produced
  • Hosted, supported and developed websites for Maritime Mega 2 & 3
  • Hosted, supported, and helped develop the Come Out & Play Geocaching program
  • Helped with production of The Amazing Race Canada for their geocaching detour

Although we are nowhere near as busy or active as we once were, there’s a lot here for us to be proud of.

Moving forward, we are looking at some new ideas. Keep your eyes peeled for new and interesting geocaching related activities coming from Cache Up NB.
